BYU-Pathway Worldwide blesses the lives of people around the world by providing access to higher education
wherever the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is organized. Our greatest need for Service Missionaries
currently is in the PathwayConnect program, a low cost 21-week program that helps students begin or return to
college. Students are strengthened spiritually while developing life skills and academic abilities through their
institute and academic classes. They attend a weekly gathering with other students either in-person or virtually.
BYU Pathway missionaries facilitate this weekly PathwayConnect gatherings, encouraging and empowering their
students to become disciple leaders and capable learners. Missionaries do not teach lessons but rather serve in
a shepherding, mentoring, and facilitating role. As missionaries minister to students with love and support, they
build personal relationships within their groups. BYU-Pathway missionaries also visit assigned wards/stakes to help educate others about the program. BYU-Pathway is centered around education and professional development, but we measure success by these
three spiritual objectives:
1. Getting the gospel down into student's hearts
2. Helping students become capable learners
3. Preparing students to lead and support families
Responsibilities:
Participate in on-going trainings to help shepherd students
Facilitate weekly gatherings at a local building or virtually through video conferencing software (which BYU-Pathway provides)
Provide students with love and support while encouraging and motivating students toward academic and life success
Assist in finding the one, or hidden many, by orienting stake and/or ward leaders about BYU-Pathway as assigned and give presentations
Inform prospective students, including friends of the Church, about BYU-Pathway and invite them to participate
If the opportunity presents itself, invite friends of the Church to meet with full-time missionaries to learn more about the gospel
